I don’t think you guys understand how freaked out I was last night.

What I am about to say, well type, is completely true.

But don’t be scared! Looking back on it, it was pretty freaking hilarious.

Alright, so you all know what sleepwalking is, right? You basically, walk, talk, and your eyes are even somewhat open. I’m pretty sure you can carry out an entire conversation with a person (not a really intelligent one, but something simple like “are you going to bed?” “Yes, I am going to bed”). But yeah, so I’m pretty sure none of my family members have experience with any form of sleepwalking so I sleep pretty soundly. On my wonderful tempur-pedic bed.

Anyway, on to the story. So basically… I’m a slacker, so therefore I study late at night-till about midnight. But the problem is, I’m really bad at staying up, so I force my brother to sleep in my room for a bit so I’m not as tempted to skip homework and go straight to bed. Alright, so this happens like every other night, if not, every night. So I finish my homework and am I readyy for bed. I call my brother’s name and kind of shake him to wake up. Okay so his eyes are like half open. Not even half-more like I couldn’t even see the whites of his eyes (WHICH MADE IT REALLY SCARY). And it was midnight!  Our conversation is as follows:

Me: Wake up. I’m done with my homework.

Brother: Let me sleep longer here.

Me: Uh, no. I’m tired and you need get to bed.

Brother: (murmers something) Everyone can teleport, Kelly. You can too.

Okay right here. WHAT THE HELL?! He said it like, with suchh attitude. Like everyone COULD teleport.

Me: Did you just say “Everyone can teleport, I can, too?”

Brother: You heard me.

HE ALSO SAID THIS WITH A SHITTLOAD OF ATTITUDE.

Me: …

I’m like standing there, dumbfounded.

And then he just gathers his stuff, turns off the light and shut the door. He says “night” too.

AND THEN LIKE THE WHOLE NIGHT I WAS FREAKING OUT THAT HE MIGHT COME BACK AND LIKE ATTACK ME OR SOMETHING.

I was really worried for him though. Strangely, I hadn’t even thought of sleepwalking being one of the possiblities. Geh, it was so funny though.

I MEAN WTF, TELEPORTING?! And he said all this with a straight face. Like a straight straight face. Aha it was hilarious.

OKAY. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO MY STORY. I thought it was worth sharing, lol.

And the “Good-bye” to Anime half of this post?

I gave up anime for Lent.

Sup. I’m Kelly.

Well I don’t have much to say besides my name. And my blog’s info is in the ‘about’ tab towards the top of the page. Take a visit =). Yup. I’m just a high school girl who’s currently living the life of an almost-otaku. You may realize later in the future why I consider myself an incomplete otaku even though I watch tons of anime and collect expensive PVC sculptures (and then take pictures of them to post a review), but throughout this blog I want to show you why. I have several minor reasons (like buying fake figures), but the #1 reason why I don’t consider myself an otaku is:

Well, enough about me, let’s move on to the very first post of my very first blog.

As you may have already noticed, the headline says -the meaning of “otaku”-, and you might have clicked the image for a closer look. It’s a screenshot of my good ol’ internet buddy, UrbanDictionary. I use it nonstop. Whenever my friends say a word I don’t understand I normally laugh it off or smile-and then scramble home to look it up. I like it because it’s really up-to-date. Webster’s dictionaries don’t really do it for me.

I picked the very first definition, being that it was the most popular. A very clear definition-but in my eyes, a pretty biased one. First off: “AN EXTREMELY NEGATIVE MEANING…” Okay, wow. Calm down, calm down. I understand that its frowned upon in Japan and all, but what the heck? Otakus do what they love. Doctors do what they love right? How come otakus get the butt of it? In my opinion I think there’s nothing wrong with being one. We just spend money on anime-related items instead of clothes and purses. We’d skip a couple days of school just to go to a convention. (Why am I saying “we”, I’m not one yet, so scratch that). Every thinks of them as weirdos or freaks, but I honestly admire them-they really love what they do and they aren’t afraid of  doing what they love.

Man I wish I were one.
